Most mailing-list services were built for SaaS companies and retrofitted for authors. They charge by subscriber count, even though 95% of indie authors have lists under 1,000. They expect you to write your own emails — which, if you're an author, you already know is the hard part. And they treat genre segmentation as an afterthought, even though authors who write in multiple genres routinely lose subscribers to the wrong list.
AuthorMailingLists.com is built differently.
Charge by send frequency, not list size
Our smallest paid tier is $5/month for 2,500 subscribers and 4 sends/month. The largest is $29/month for unlimited subscribers and unlimited sends within fair use. You don't get penalised for growing your list. You only pay more when you actually need to send more.
AI drafts your sequences from your book
Upload your manuscript (EPUB, PDF, DOCX, or plain text). The first call extracts structured marketing material — your genre, tone, target reader, key themes, characters, comparable books, and verbatim quotable passages. The second call generates email drafts using that material as context. Every draft opens with a concrete moment from your book rather than "I'm excited to share..." We ship three sequence templates today: a 5-email launch sequence, a 12-email weekly themes series, and a 3-email re-engagement series.
Genre-segmented lists are the default
If you write science, religion, and self-help, three distinct audiences signed up for three distinct things. Our embeddable widget lets each visitor self-select at signup, so a science subscriber never gets your motivational releases. One author, multiple lists, no overlap.
Deliverability is the product
Strict double opt-in by default. Imported lists get re-confirmation emails (with an opt-out for actively-engaged lists). Built on Amazon SES with DKIM signing, RFC 8058 one-click unsubscribe, and automatic bounce + complaint handling that auto-suppresses chronically unengaged subscribers. The boring infrastructure work is what gets your emails into inboxes.
